Thinking 'the most qualified person should get the job' is a meritocratic mindset and the right way to think.

How could anyone think this is a microaggression?

Merit should transcend demographics and be the strongest variable in determining who gets a role. Perhaps it is only a microaggression to those who lack merit and need special treatment to compete.
